Pictured above is a Cherating-locale shot — the beach or coastline this stay sits on, not the property itself. We’re sourcing licensed photos of the buildings and will swap them in.

Traditional Malay wooden chalets a two-minute walk from the beach, in the thick of the village and barely 500 metres from the turtle sanctuary and the Limbong Art batik workshop. It’s simple and the rooms are basic — this is a budget-to-midrange chalet stay, not a resort — but the location is excellent for the surf beach, the turtles and walking to food. Its Surf Club restaurant looks out over the sea.

Our independent tip

You’re paying for the location, not luxury — rooms are simple and some reviewers flag wear, so read recent reviews and pick your room type carefully. There’s no resort pool here; the draw is being able to roll out of bed and onto the surf beach, with the turtles next door.

Frequently asked questions

How close is Eastana Cherating to the beach?

About a two-minute walk. It’s right in the village, also within roughly 500 metres of the turtle sanctuary and the Limbong Art batik workshop, which makes it a handy budget base for the surf beach and the turtles.

Does Eastana Cherating have a pool?

No — it’s a traditional-chalet resort, so the beach is your swimming. If a pool matters, Holiday Villa, The Legend or Cherating Bayview are the village stays that have one.
