The most resort-like of the independent Cherating stays, and the one most families default to outside Club Med. A proper beachfront resort on the South China Sea with two big pools, a small kids’ water-play area, a spa and a beach restaurant — 134 rooms, so it has the facilities of a resort at a fraction of the all-inclusive price. Not the newest property on the coast, but dependable, family-friendly and right on the sand.

Our independent tip

It’s an older resort, so rooms vary — read recent reviews and, if you can, ask for a renovated or higher-floor room. The two pools are the real draw for families; the beach here is open South China Sea, so it’s for paddling and walking more than calm-lagoon swimming.

Frequently asked questions

Does Holiday Villa Cherating have a beach?

Yes — it’s a genuine beachfront resort on the South China Sea, with free beach cabanas and a beach restaurant. As with all of Cherating, it’s open sea rather than a sheltered lagoon, so check conditions before swimming, especially in the monsoon months.

Is Holiday Villa Cherating good for families?

It’s one of the better family picks outside Club Med: two big pools, a small kids’ water-play area, family rooms and a kids’ club, at mid-range rather than all-inclusive prices.
